Description (spiel from brochure or press release):

LG SL80: Gaze through LG's LCD Window to a BORDERLESS™ World

LG Turns the SL80 into a Work of Art, the Very Best in Form and Function

City, Date - LG Electronics (LG), a major player in the global flat panel display and audio-video devices market, announced the launch of its new SL80 BORDERLESS™ TV. The new SL80 boasts a unique single-layer screen that represents the future of television design and offers consumers a more sophisticated choice in televisions.

"The SL80 is unlike any LCD TV you've ever seen before. It's a true work of art," said Simon Kang, CEO and President of LG Home Entertainment Company. "With its BORDERLESS™ design, the TV appears to be a window into a new world of Full HD entertainment. This TV perfectly combines artistic design with the ultimate in picture quality and easy-to-use features, making it unlike anything else in the market."

LG's latest LCD TV is truly BORDERLESS™, with the screen and bezel blending seamlessly together. Unlike conventional LCD TVs, where the panel is recessed slightly within a thick plastic frame, LG's new SL80 has a single-layer design that sets the panel flush with the narrow bezel surrounding it. LG even went so far as to ensure that the all of the TV's exterior components perfectly match the color of the LCD panel when the TV is turned off.

To create the BORDERLESS™ TV design, LG uses a new Injection Compression Molding (ICM) Technology for much of the TV's body, rather than cutting and stamping parts. This created a more unified and sleeker look for the TV, trimming its depth to a mere 4.5cm at its thickest point. Further improving the TV's distinctive design is LG's laminating technology that helps preserve the SL80's looks by making the TV scratch resistant. The combination of a BORDERLESS™ design with a slim depth makes the screen appear larger and helps draw viewers in, for a more engaging experience.

The Full HD SL80 boasts picture quality as beautiful as the TV itself. It includes LG's TruMotion 240Hz (200Hz) technology, which significantly reduces motion blur and streaking for fast moving images, using scanning backlight technology. This also brings the TV's response time down to a blistering 2 ms. In addition, a 150,000:1 dynamic fine contrast ratio brings far greater depth to every scene, with blacks that are dark as night and colors as vivid as anything nature could create.

The SL80's sleek looks reflect the cutting edge features inside. The TV makes use of Bluetooth technology to connect to compatible mobile phones for playing back music or viewing photos. Bluetooth also makes it possible to listen to TV shows, movies and games over wireless headphones, eliminating the need for unsightly wires. The TV is a true multimedia wonder, able to connect to external hard drives or USB memory via a USB 2.0 port to play JPEG, MP3 or HD DivX files with incredible quality.

LG's exclusive Smart Energy Saving Plus technology helps make the SL80 friendlier to the environment, reducing power consumption while also ensuring optimum picture quality and reducing eyestrain for viewers. It uses LG's Intelligent Sensor, which analyzes the ambient light in the room and adjusts picture settings and backlight intensity accordingly.

"People are very selective about the furniture and artwork for their homes," said Mr. Kang. "They want something beautiful, something that reflects their personalities. Until now, they have not had this choice when it comes to flat panel TVs. With LG's new SL80 LCD TV and its slim, BORDERLESS™ design, people can now choose a TV that reflects their high level of sophistication and taste while also delivering incredible picture and sound."

This strikingly innovative LCD TV will be available across most of the world. For further information about the SL80, please visit www.lge.com.
