This is spectacular.
I mean, really, it's a 'pagandahan ng babae' contest, right? As shallow as it gets. It's a sporting event with stats and everything, except they wouldn't admit that if it killed them. And don't talk to me about charity and all that. Donald Trump could just as easily do all those things sans fanfare.
I honestly hoped I would see the day exercises in superficiality and sexism like these would disappear within my lifetime. Until I saw this:
Ok fine I made that title up.
What brought it up though is a global report that can well fit into the 'what we already know' department, entitled 'Women Spend 30% More Time On Social Web Than Men'.
Amongst it's findings:
- 76& of women visit social networking sites vs. 70% of men.
- Although women account for 48% of total unique visitors to social networking sites, they consume 57% of pages and account for nearly 57% of total minutes spent on these sites.
- No matter what region, women are more social than men on the web, especially in Latin America with 94% of females online.
- In the US, 56% of adult women use the 'net to keep in touch with people compared to 46% men.
There is no doubt in my mind the Old Spice videos are the bestest most viralestest viral videos on the web ever forever never. Wether he's doing a thinly veiled Gilette cross promotion..
Answering a question via Yahoo re how many teeth sharks have..
And here I was thinking the Java / MS wars were over, and we had therefore lost an interesting rivalry. Until I saw this.
It gets NSFW at around 2:45, so careful!
This video interested me because it talked about open source vis a vis what motivates us slash money and the seeming lack of interconnection between the two. It then introduced me to open source stalwarts Celeste Lyn Paul and Apache James proponent Serge Knystautas who were interviewed for this as well.
It's a 9:21 long video so if you're impatient jump over to the 6:40 part where it's relevant to what I just said.
Just thought I'd upload how YouTube looks like when it throws an error page.
