Excited About Drupal Meetup on the 28th, Jan. 2012

I set up a Drupal Meetup 2 weeks ago and so far 13 people have joined up!

Running Out Of Ram (Again)

These past few days, my VPS had been crashing unexpectedly. No warning, just dies out, and you don't even know about it until either someone tells you or you randomly check and none of the sites I host load. Naturally I emailed support and this is what I got:

no more ram

Drush Is Da Sh*t

Just a quick note to say I'm thoroughly enjoying Drush, the command line interface that's essential for anyone running one, and especially many, Drupal sites.

I Am Volunteering To Make The Website Of The Office Of The President (updated)

An article on Gmanews.tv by Ellen Tordesillas brought my attention to the current state of the President's website, which I took a screenshot of the day I am writing this, July 7, 2010:

office of the president website

The article starts out explaining that the person who has the password to edit the website is out of the country, and so a decision was made to disable it instead.

Changing AddThis with Facebook Like

Let's face it, Facebook has easily become the only social networking tool worth promoting your site on. Oh I know Twitter faithful have something to say about that, but I don't twit, and since I don't twit, I'm probably not gonna read it if they do ;).

At any rate, I've been using the Addthis module for quite a while now, and I felt I needed a change. Here's a little graphic of why I think it isn't worth it anymore.

Changing AddThis with Facebook Like

Clearly, I needed a change.

The New Wordpress 3.0 From A Drupal POV

The much heralded new Wordpress 3.0 aka 'Thelonius' (in honor of Jazz great Thelonius Monk), is finally out, with fantastic new drool - worthy features.

Drupal Nirvana Achieved With Mom Exchange

Here, ladies and gentlemen, is a screencap of my todo list last Holy Week for my Drupal powered site MomEx (yes I just use notepad. Am very unsophisticated that way):

With little x marks on the side to indicate they.are.now.finished.

Let's go through them in detail, or at least those I can screencap:

MS Acknowledges (gasp!) Wordpress, Drupal, PHP, etc.

By way of Weblogtoolscollection, whose feed you need to be subscribed to if you run any number of Wordpress powered sites, I learned of MS' Web Platform and its offering of web apps that I assume would run on Windows Server, IIS and SQL Server (otherwise why would they mention these at all?).

I say 'assume' because neither Weblogtoolscollection or Thestandard.com, who both covered this earth shaking piece of news, confirmed whether these'd run on IIS, etc.
