This video interested me because it talked about open source vis a vis what motivates us slash money and the seeming lack of interconnection between the two. It then introduced me to open source stalwarts Celeste Lyn Paul and Apache James proponent Serge Knystautas who were interviewed for this as well.
It's a 9:21 long video so if you're impatient jump over to the 6:40 part where it's relevant to what I just said.
And yes Ms. Paul is cute. There I said it.
Seriously though, the video quotes Daniel Pink, author of 'Drive' saying 'We do things because they're interesting. We do things because we like them. We do things because we get better at them, because we want to contribute to the world.'

Yep. I'd say that's pretty much what one gets from open source.
